Injury Treatment and Prevention

The Kent County FA Football Development Team organised the first workshop of the year for the Kent County FA Coaches Association. The workshop was delivered by Craig Barkway and was based on Injury Treatment and Prevention. The tutor has vast experience of injury rehabilitation and is currently Sports Therapist at Next Generation Health and Fitness Club in Dartford.

The workshop was utilised to go through;

  • Common Injuries & Causes
  • Injury Treatment
  • Injury Prevention
  • Useful Equipment
  • Help & Support

Craig Barkway stated that “It was a very enjoyable presentation to deliver. Most of the coaches in attendance were already FA Emergency Aid qualified but it was extremely useful to go through information on how to prevent injuries in the first place and also how to treat certain injuries. There are a lot of theories with regards to injury treatment and prevention and it was good to give the coaches more ideas to take away with them”.

The workshop attracted thirty Kent County FA Coaches Association members.

The Kent County FA Coaches Association currently has 220 members and continues to grow as more and more coaches gain their FA coaching qualifications. Indeed, it is the aim of the Kent County FA Football Development Team to raise standards of football at all levels within the County.
