Kent link up with Botswana

The Kent County Football Association has set up a twinning arrangement with the South East Regional Football Association in Botswana.

This arrangement which has the support of the Football Association is seen as a pilot scheme and if successful than it is possible that other County Football Associations will be encouraged to form links with other Regional Associations in the Southern African Republic.

Keith Masters, Chief Executive of the KCFA has visited Botswana three times in the past year and working with officials of the Botswana FA and the Regional FA has put the ‘heads of agreement’ in place.

Keith and Head Coach Alan Walker will return to Gaborone the capital of Botswana in September when Alan will deliver coaching sessions to the Region’s 26 Clubs and Keith will meet with Leagues, Clubs and Referees.

Chief Executive, Keith Masters said ‘This is a very exciting project and something which we hope will be successful. There are a number of ways in which we can assist these lovely people and I am writing to all Clubs to ask them to assist me to set up a ‘kit bank’. This request can be extended to all who play the game in this country and I make the plea that when replacing boots etc. instead of throwing your old ones away let me have them. Anything that has a bit more use left in it will be well received in Botswana’.

Any donations of kit etc. can be sent to the County Office – 69 Maidstone Road, Chatham where it will be gratefully received.

It is envisaged that a little later in the year officials from Botswana will visit Kent to see how we administrate the game.
