Football Funding

2:24 PM, Monday, 22 September 08.

Attracting investment into grassroots football is a key priority for the Kent County FA.

We have been successful in assisting 119 applicants in attracting £12,472,174.26 into football pitches and facilities with £6,876,941.01 (55%) being provided by the Football Foundation.

We provide pre-application support to all applicants looking to gain funding for pitches and facilities through monthly facility workshops and site visits. Indeed, we are currently liaising with all Local Authorities to produce a Kent Football Pitches and Facilities Strategy. This document will have details of all Local Authority playing pitch strategies, participation data and an action plan detailing priority projects in each Local Authority. This will allow us to become much more proactive in attracting investment into Local Authority owned football pitches and facilities.

We have also been successful in assisting 50 applicants in attracting £3,402,089.68 into community and education projects with £1,039,407.39 (30%) being provided by the Football Foundation.

The community and education funding is allocated to projects that are designed to increase participation by both players and volunteers. The grants use football development initiatives to tackle social exclusion, tackle health inequalities and contribute to educational attainment and lifelong learning. We provide pre-application support to applicants looking to gain community and education grants from the Football Foundation through specific workshops.

The production of the Kent Football Strategy 2008 – 2012 and the establishment of the four Working Groups will enable the Kent County FA to increase this level of support to our key stakeholders and bring more investment into Kent football.
