Didier Drogba, Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor; world class footballers playing in the English premiership. Now, thanks to the generosity of people living in Kent, a new generation of African talent is getting the chance to show what they can do.
Chief Executive of KCFA Keith Masters has been on a visit to Tanzania to present kit and equipment donated by the people of Kent and A&H International.
He visited the country in his capacity as European President of TYSCO – Tanzanian Youth Sports Charity Organisation – where 20 academies have now been set up to raise the profile of football at all levels.
Talking on his return Keith Masters said “ While I’m so grateful of all the donations already received, I really urge people not to throw away any old kit or boots. When I think of the condition of some of the boots I saw kids and adults playing in out in Tanzania, believe you me they will be grateful for anything!”
During the latest trip 25 presentations were made in Dar Es Salaam, Morogoro and Turiani – which Keith reached by travelling nearly 50km on a dirt track!
It’s hoped the academies being set up in Tanzania today could provide the international players of tomorrow.
The charity is also supporting local schools in the country and is asking Kent schools to donate any unwanted text books. They will have a new life in Africa and are guaranteed to be well used and well loved.
If you have any kit, boots or books that you are able to donate please contact Keith Masters at the KCFA HQ.
