Public Liability Insurance
It is compulsory for all affiliated clubs to have Public (General) Liability Insurance cover with a £10m limit and this is detailed within The FA Standard Code of Rules.
The cover continues to apply to our affiliated Clubs, registered Referees of the association and also ‘stand-in’ Referees. In addition Leagues can also purchase this cover.
The 2016/17 Season will continue to provide a Limit of Indemnity of £10M. The cover provides general liability cover, protecting Clubs in respect of their legal liability to third parties for death, bodily injury or property damage arising from negligent acts. Claims examples include injury from goalposts/ cross-bars, player crushed by spectator seating, spectator facial injuries, glass & sharps, slipping & tripping, road traffic accidents from stray ball. The cover includes legal defence costs up to £250,000, to defend a player accused of negligently injuring another player.
The policy also includes as standard Professional Indemnity and Directors & Officers liability with a £10m limit of indemnity.

Personal Accident Insurance
It is compulsory for adult teams to have Personal Accident Insurance cover for each team which is detailed within The FA Standard Code of Rules and through UKGLOBAL, Adult and Youth Teams can select from a wide range of benefit options as well as weekly benefits for those players who are injured and are unable to carry out their usual occupation.
The entry level weekly benefit for Adult teams is £25, however it is vital that each team is aware of the importance of selecting the right level of cover as very often this doesn’t come to light until an injured player needs to make a claim. Players who are self-employed need to seriously consider opting for the higher benefit levels or look at tailoring an individual policy suited for their circumstances. UKGLOBAL can assist with this.
Those weekly benefits start at £25 per week and increase at each cover level. It is therefore imperative that players are involved in the decision as to which weekly benefit level is opted for by the Club Secretary as this directly affects them.
Cover is purchased when you affiliate to the Association and full details are shown on the Affiliation form however if you were to increase the weekly benefit to £50 per week, the cost per player for the whole season would be 19p per game.
