The Kent FA and the national FA will only accept the FA Emergency Aid (or BFAS) certificates as a pre-requisite on FA coaching courses and as part of the FA Charter Standard criteria from 1st August 2013, following advice from qualifications regulator Ofqual.
The FA will continue to recognise the qualifications of those coaches with non-FA First Aid qualifications for the lifetime of those qualifications, but on expiry coaches will be required to renew with an FA First Aid qualification.
This is a national policy decision from the FA and will be implemented across all county FAs and the national game from 1st August 2013 and there will be no exemptions for coaches who may have First Aid qualifications through their job role or employer.
