Both the under 13 & under 14 cup finals were contested by Welling united and Maidstone united on a sunny morning and afternoon at Salters Lane, home of Faversham Town. Welling won the under 13 game 3-1 while Maidstone won the under 14 clash 2-1. Both matches were hotly contested games played in the greatest of spirits,

Welling under 13s were victorious over Maidstone United, with a brace from Welling front man Tommy Collings doing most of the damage. They took the lead as early as the 10th minute as a one on one resulted in Collings getting past the keeper and slotting home into an empty net. Just on the stroke of half time he doubled the scores, this time with a well taken strike from the edge of the area to leave the keeper with no chance.

Maidstone halved the deficit midway through the second half through Bradley Jeffery and Maidstone were pushing for the all important equaliser. But it was Welling who had the last say in this game, with Collings turning provider, putting through Alfie Shaw who sealed the win minutes from time.

The under 14s, who were aware of the result in the morning, got underway and it was clear from the outset that these were 2 evenly matched teams. Maidstone took the lead towards the end of the first half due to an opportunist strike by Jack Richards to give the stones a half time lead. In the second half the game was end to end, with both clubs creating good opportunities to score.

With 10 minutes to go Jack Wooldridge doubled Maidstone’s advantage to seemingly put the game beyond Welling; however they grabbed a goal 5 minutes from time to set up a tense finish. The stones keeper made a poor clearance and Edward Jonas made the most of it, lobbing the keeper from outside the box, but in the end it was just a consolation and Maidstone took the cup.
