Kent U16s Held to Draw with Sussex

Kent FA 16s draw 2-2 at home to Sussex FA in league match.

Kent FA 16s recorded their third successive draw of the South East Counties League, with a 2-2 score line against the visiting Sussex FA. The visitors were the stronger team in the first half, and took a deserved lead before Eban Gurung equalised before the break. The second half Kent then seized the initiative and when Samuel Aziaya gave Kent the lead, it looked like they would come away with the win, but after a flurry of missed chances they were pegged back by Sussex in the last minute from a corner.

It is an unbeaten but frustrating season so far for the 16s, who will see it more as 2 points dropped rather than 1 gained as with the previous match against Middlesex, but showed great resilience to recover against Essex FA in the opening match.

Kent’s next match is away to local rivals London FA on the 10th December before our final match against AFA on the 4th February, and while chances of winning the league are slim, there is a real chance to go the season unbeaten, which hasn’t been done by any county in this age group since Kent FA in the 2015-16 season, who also won the title in that campaign.
