Kent Ladies Make It Three Wins From Three Matches!

Kent Ladies beat Army FA 3-1 to make it three wins from three in the Southern Counties Cup!

Kent FA Ladies 3-1 Army FA Ladies

Kent FA Ladies made it three wins from three matches this Season with an Impressive 3-1 victory against Army FA Ladies at Chatham Town.

Kent FA got off to the perfect start as they took the lead with just five minutes on the clock. A free kick was awarded around 25 yards from goal and up stepped Charlie Myhill who beat the keeper low down to her left to give Kent the lead. Army responded well to going a goal down and Kent keeper Cara Davis produced a smart save from a fierce Libby Dixon strike to keep Kent ahead. Dixon was a real livewire for the visitors and it was no surprise that she was heavily involved in the equalising goal, she burst down the right flank and drilled a low cross into the six yard box where Laura Murray arrived to draw the Army level. Buoyed by the equaliser, the Army nearly took the lead just two minutes later but Cara Davis produced a superb save to deny the goal which looked like it came off one of her own defenders. With halftime approaching both sides had chances to take the lead, firstly the Army saw a 25 yard effort go marginally past the post then Kent Captain Amy Russ saw her curling effort hit the post.

The second half began in the same manner as the first half with Kent scoring in the early stages, the goal coming from half time substitute Jess Oldfield who showed great composure to round the visiting keeper and slot into the empty net. Oldfield was making a big impact and two minutes after her goal she nearly added a second but her header was well saved. Aileen Williams had a long range effort go narrowly wide as Kent pushed for the killer third goal but the Army responded with two efforts in the space of a minute, Murray forcing Cara Davis into action from 12 yards out and then Davis produced a magnificent save to deny Weston from fully 25 yards out. The points were sealed with five minutes remaining, Amy Russ winning the ball in midfield and passing to Beth Nugent whose strike cannoned back off the bar into the path of Mille Waud who slotted into the net. Waud could’ve added a fourth in Injury time but her effort went just wide of the near post.

A great team performance in tricky conditions that no doubt pleased Manager Cori Daniels.
