Why are we collecting equality data from football players in Kent?

As part of Kent FA’s commitment to ensuring football is a game for all within the county, we have committed to reaccrediting the Equality Standard for Sport at Preliminary Level with the aim of going on to achieve the Intermediate Level of the award.

To achieve this, Kent FA must conduct an audit via a survey of players who play for clubs affiliated to Kent FA, in order to understand our own current position and demographics.

Kent FA has nearly 55,000 players registered as playing within the county and a 10% return rate (approximately 5,000-5,500 responses) is expected by the awarding body, as having a representative return rate demonstrates that we, the Kent FA, as the Governing Body of football in Kent, is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and have a clear understanding of the demographic we serve.

It also helps us as a county formulate our Equality Action plan over the next few years and how we can continue to provide opportunities across the game for all in the county.
