Match Preview Kent Reliance U16 Girls Youth Cup

After a gruelling 3 rounds, Long Lane Junior Girls and last year’s U16 Girls Cup winners, Gravesham Girls and Ladies, have made it through the Finals

The first round saw Long Lane Junior Girls through to the Quarter Finals with a 4-2 win over Sevenoaks Town FC.

Gravesham Girls and Ladies received a bye straight through to the Quarter Finals where they convincingly sealed their semi-final hopes by winning 6-1 against Castle Colts FC.
Whilst Long Lane Junior Girls went into the Semi-Finals with a walkover as their challengers were unable to field a team for the game.

The Semi-Finals came in January, and saw the current cup holders, Gravesham Girls and Ladies, keep up appearances by winning with a smashing 7-0  against Anchorians, leading them to their challenge to hold their title.

Long Lane Junior Girls repeated their first round score, and defeated Petts Wood FC 4-2 to book their spot in the Finals.

Scott Martin, manager of Gravesham Girls & Ladies U16s said “It’s so great to have reached the finals of the Kent Reliance County Cup again, and is a testament to the hard work the girls have put in this season. We have had a unique season in our league, playing a combination of both 9 v 9 and 11 v 11 matches and currently sit at the top of the tables, having not lost a match yet! We are not taking this game lightly as we have already had some very close games with Long Lane and have had to be at our very best to get a result against them.”

Mick Northwood, Long Lane Juniors U16s team manager said “It’s hard to believe that we have reached a County Cup final, we lost a number of really good players last summer but we have recovered and the girls are having an outstanding season. They have already clinched a place in the League Cup Final and reaching this final is a fantastic achievement and we are all looking forward to the occasion which means so much to the team and the Club.”

You can come and watch the final for yourself on Sunday 13th March, 13.30pm KO at Sittingbourne Football Club, Woodstock Park.
