Kent U18 Boys Youth Cup
A real blood and thunder cup tie played mainly in driving rain saw Chatham edge rivals Sheppey to win the cup.
Sheppey led through Kenzie Monahan’s lovely left-foot finish but Chatham levelled from the penalty spot through Harvey Broad midway through the first half.
Referee Thomas Amber did his best to keep 11 men on the pitch for each team with challenges flying in but he eventually showed Bleu Landau a second caution, leaving Sheppey to play the final half-hour a player short.
Chatham capitalised with 15 minutes left when Tobi Irefin put them ahead and they extended their lead through Harry Clout’s perfect header from an excellent cross by man-of-the-match Keanan Devline.
Sheppey hit back in stoppage time through Jack Marsh’s penalty and nearly took the tie to extra time but a late header from a corner was cleared off the line.
