Pitch Improvement Programme

Pitch Improvement Programme

The Pitch Improvement Programme provides clubs, and their pitch providers, with expert advice and practical solutions for developing and maintaining their grass pitches, and improving playing surfaces across Kent.

As part of the Pitch Improvement Programme, Kent FA has set an ambitious target of improving 222 pitches by the end of the 2020-21 season. The key principles behind the Pitch Improvement Programme is to provide clubs, and their pitch providers, with expert advice and practical solutions for developing and maintaining their grass pitches, and improving playing surfaces across Kent.

Kent FA has an Official Pitch Improvement Partner - ‘Bourne To Garden’. This partnership includes the purchase of specific equipment to assist with pitch improvement worth over £40,000 pounds of investment from both Kent FA and ‘Bourne To Garden’. You can find a list of services available through our partnership further down the page.

The Pitch Improvement Programme operates through a Regional Pitch Advisor, who will assess your pitch for a minimal fee of £100. The advisor will create an action plan that can help you to improve the quality of your playing facilities.

A part of this process includes receiving a site visit, where we offer practical and realistic advice on pitch maintenance based on your budget, level of expertise, access to equipment and time available. Every visit will receive a summary report containing recommendations of how to progress the site’s maintenance programme.

Pitch Assessment Visit reports may, where recommended, identify areas of need for further investment such as machinery or drainage. Where this is the case we will support you to use the report as the basis for funding applications to bodies such as the Football Foundation.

To begin the process of the Pitch Improvement Programme, please contact Lee Suter (Football Development Manager) on Lee.Suter@kentfa.com who will provide you with a PIP EOI form. Once the form has been returned you will be contacted by Kent FA to arrange a pitch visit. After the visit you will receive a report detailing what is required to manage, maintain and develop your pitch. You will receive a second visit from the IOG Regional Pitch Advisor at a later date to monitor progress made.
