The Merit U14 Boys Cup Final: Rochester City 4 Maidstone United 1
Speedy Akash Santhosh scored twice as Rochester City eventually ran out convincing winners over Maidstone United.
Two goals in stoppage time were tough on the Stones, who gave as good as they got in a close contest between two teams who are unbeaten in their league campaigns.
That was underlined by a goalless first half but Rochester went ahead just two minutes into the second half when Santhosh’s sublime left-wing cross was volleyed in by Nathaniel Waul.
Maidstone levelled when Louie Dayal hooked home after keeper Rex Porter was unable to gather a hanging cross.
But Rochester restored their advantage with 13 minutes left when Paddy Flynn burst through to score.
Two goals in stoppage time by man-of-the-match Santhosh, both excellent left-foot finishes into the far corner, ensured Rochester could celebrate in style at the final whistle.
