DFDS Kent Intermediate Cup: Deal Town Reserves 2 Rusthall Reserves 0

A quickfire first-half double salvo ensured Deal Reserves beat Rusthall Reserves in their Kent Intermediate Cup Final at Sheppey's Holm Park.

Andrew Crush's Hoops, who had won Kent County League Division 2 Central & East with a perfect record from 18 league matches, ended their 2022/23 campaign by scoring both goals inside four minutes.

Midfielder Charlie Groombridge volleyed home Sammy Carpenter's right-wing cross in the 35th minute before provider turned scorer.

Both sides hit the woodwork late on - Deal's Harry Andrews doing so first, while Rusthall captain Kane Crowhurst almost netted in stoppage time as they were beaten at the last hurdle for the second successive year - but Deal held on for a 2-0 triumph to complete a double.
