The DFDS Kent Intermediate Challenge Shield
Kent Intermediate Challenge Shield Final: Stansfeld O&B 1 Red Velvet 5
Red Velvet’s James Dyer had a day to remember at the Gallagher Stadium as he dominated a one-sided DFDS Kent Intermediate Challenge Shield Final.
Stansfeld had taken an early lead through Oliver Wright’s header from a Zach Garcia corner. But they were ahead for only two minutes after Frank McLaren headed in Dyer’s free-kick.
Dyer then scored a left-foot stunner, a first-time strike from 20 yards off the bar, to put Velvet ahead on the half-hour.
Hard-working forward Cameron McMillan then set up Dyer for three second-half goals in a 15-minute spell to put the tie out of Stansfeld’s reach.
The game was also notable for an outstanding display in the middle by referee Jack Smith.
