It may have only been the sixth county cup final to be held this year but you’ll be hard pushed to find a better game in the coming weeks.

Ashford finally got their hands on the Kent Merit Under-15 Boys Cup at Sheppey’s Holm Park after a penalty shoot-out that saw each side take eight spot-kicks apiece.

Greenway, who had just 11 available players due to injury, twice led but Ashford would not be denied and equalised in stoppage time to take the tie to extra-time.

Aston Freeman gave Greenway an early lead but Ollie Fagg’s excellent run and finish levelled the scores.

Greenway restored their lead through Emmanuel Markis’ header from Callum Dunlop’s cross but Fagg arrived unmarked to score his second of the game to make it 2-2.

Both keepers made notable saves in the shoot-out but it was Ashford who finally got ahead to spark wild celebrations.
