Kent Young Coach Academy

Kent Sport has set up a Kent Young Coaches Academy, to benefit and support young coaches from across sport in our county.

The Academy has been set up to create a clearer pathway for young coaches to transition from schools into a community setting. The Academy is aimed at young people that have just started their coaching journey in addition to those who are already coaching in a community setting and are keen to receive further training. We are now accepting applications for the 2017-18 programme, our second year.

Non-sports specific training is delivered with a particular focus on practical coaching, understanding and developing a coaching philosophy, considering honesty and ethics and the use of technology in sport.

All young coaches will be invited to attend two training days as shown below at Canterbury Christchurch University from 10.00am-3.00pm each day.
Day 1 - Saturday 9th December – Training Day
Day 2 - Tuesday 13th February – Training Day

In addition to the training days, all young coaches will be encouraged to complete 10 voluntary coaching hours at their chosen community club and will also be signposted towards additional (optional) qualifications throughout the year including First Aid and Safeguarding. There will be a £15 joining fee for all successful applicants as a contribution towards the costs of a polo shirt and the annual KYCA programme of workshops.

Any young person aged 15+ who would like to join the academy in 2017-18 will need to complete an application form and send it via email to the address below.
