Kent FA vs Jersey FA Celebration

Kent Victory Over Jersey!

Kingsford & Ishola at The Double

Kingsford & Ishola at The Double

Kent FA 4 - 0 Jersey FA

Two goals apiece from Ryan Kingsford and Hamid Ishola saw Kent record a 4-0 victory over Jersey at a soggy Sevenoaks Town.

Heavy overnight rain wasn’t an issue due to the excellent 3G pitch at Sevenoaks and Kent set about building on the recent 2-0 win over London. Injuries to Baily Sinnock & George Robinson meant a slight re-shuffle and a debut for Hamid Ishola. Both sides started off brightly and very much on the front foot and it was Kent who had the first effort of the match as Freddie Entwistle’s effort went just over the bar and moments later Ryan Kingsford saw his shot fly just wide of the post. Jersey looked very dangerous going forwards especially down the right flank but Joe Muddiman stood up to the task exceptionally well. A lot of Jersey’s good work came through their Captain Sol Soloman and he was next to have an effort on target but it was well saved by Wayne Everest in the Kent goal. Further chances fell to Harrison Pont, Freddie Entwistle & George Porter for the hosts but the breakthrough goal failed to materialise with the sides going in at the break at 0-0.

The opening goal of the match came just five minutes into the second half from the Penalty spot, Harrison Pont was upended in the box and up stepped Ryan Kingsford to score from the spot. Harrison then had two chances in the space of a minute to increase the lead but on both occasions his header was saved.  On the hour mark, debutant Hamid Ishola then burst into the box only to see his effort go inches wide of the post as he continued to be a constant threat to the Jersey defence. Jersey were pushing to get back into the game and again the majority of their good work came via Sol Soloman and he had the next two chances for his side but couldn’t get that elusive equalising goal and the visitors paid the price when Kent doubled their lead on 70 minutes, Hamid Ishola picked the ball up in space and used his pace to burst past two defenders before slotting past the onrushing goalkeeper. Ryan Kingsford then saw his header flash wide from an excellent cross from Freddie Entwistle and following more great work from Hamid Ishola, Ryan was denied by a great save. With just two minutes remaining Kent added a third goal, Scott Jarvis floated a free kick into the box and Ryan Kingsford rose above the defence to head home. Hamid Ishola then scored his second of the match in the final minute with a superb lobbed finish over the stranded keeper to cap a fantastic team performance.

Speaking after the match, Manager Ian Varley said “Really pleased with the performance and result today against a very good team. It was an even and competitive match until we got the 1st goal which was always going to be important. After that we were clinical and ruthless to take the game away from them which was very pleasing. 2 wins, 2 clean sheets and 6 goals is a very good start to the group!”
