Kent Senior Cup Final 2019-20
Post match press release for the Kent Senior Cup Final
Wednesday 24th November saw the delayed 2019/20 Kent Senior Cup Final played as Dartford FC hosted Whitstable Town FC at their Princes Park Stadium.
Dartford had reached the Final way back in March 2020 but then the pandemic struck, and it wasn’t until October this year that Whitstable defeated Gillingham in the other Semi-Final to reach the Final.
Before the match, there was a buffet laid on for the Officials from both Clubs, whilst Laurence Jones from the FA, the Kent FA President Barry Bright, Kent FA Chair Denise Richmond, and Kent FA CEO Darryl Haden were also in attendance. Members of the Kent FA Board and Council along with guests from Sleeping Giant Media and Darenth Print & Design also enjoyed the pre-match hospitality.
Before the match started, Darryl Haden presented both Finalists with a commemorative plaque to mark their achievements in reaching the Final.
The match saw Dartford, who play two Divisions higher than Whitstable Town, show their strength as they raced to a 5-0 interval lead at half-time, the second half was more even as Whitstable came back into the match with a stunning free-kick. However, it was Dartford FC who were worthy winners of the 131st Kent Senior Cup Final as they ran out 6-1 winners.
Player of the Match was awarded to Dartford’s hat trick scorer, Jack Robinson. Dartford’s Captain, Tom Bonner, received the Cup presented by Denise Richmond, Kent FA Chair, at the presentation ceremony.
