DFDS Kent Senior Cup Final 2022-23

Read our match preview of the 133rd Kent Senior Cup Final.

On Wednesday, 3rd May 2023, Chatham Town FC and Margate FC will battle it out at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium to see who will take this prestigious trophy for the 2022/23 season.

Now in its 133rd year, The Kent Senior Cup has always been at the heart of competitive football in Kent, with the first round of the Kent Senior Cup in October 1888 at the Sun Hotel, Chatham. Since then, the Kent Senior Cup has enjoyed a high profile throughout the years. So let’s find out how the teams feel about their upcoming game.

Chatham Town Chairman Kevin Hake said: “The Kent Cup competitions have a special place in everyone’s hearts at Chatham, particularly in recent times, as winning the Kent Senior Trophy in 2019 marked the first honours the club had won in some 25 years. It’s a great testament to all the great work that has gone on at the club since that day, as we once again find ourselves in the Kent Senior Cup final. It’s a competition we haven’t won since 1919, so bringing the silverware home in modern times would be great.”

Ben Greenhalgh, Assistant Manager at Margate, added: “To beat Ramsgate in the semi-final is something we thoroughly enjoyed as a club. It was a fantastic evening at Hartsdown Park in front of a crowd of 1,481 and the atmosphere was incredible. To reach a final of a cup competition is always a big achievement, and it is one that we are very proud of. This season has been a difficult one for many reasons. However, tonight gives us the opportunity to shine a bright light on the last nine months.”

Both clubs have been on quite a journey this season, and it promises to be a fantastic final under the lights at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium.

Tickets

We would like to thank a couple of people. Firstly, thank our County Cup Partner, DFDS, for their incredible support this season. And secondly, to Gillingham FC for hosting the event at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium as the only EFL club in the County. It is a fantastic stage for such a prestigious cup.

We wish both teams the best of luck for their Final; this is their day and represents a just reward for their efforts during the season. Most of all, we hope the 133rd Kent Senior Cup Final will be an enjoyable experience for everyone.
