It is with great pleasure that we introduce Vesey, a football team wear online retailer dedicated to supporting grassroots clubs.

We caught up with Matthew Rutter, Partnerships Manager from Vesey / Discount Football Kits.  

For those who do not know much about Vesey, can you tell us more about the work you do? 

“Vesey is a family-owned football teamwear business that operates the online platforms, www.discountfootballkits.com and www.clubwebshop.com. We are a key strategic partner for Nike whom we work closely with and activate their brand in our county FA partnerships. Our main business focus is on supplying grassroots football clubs with their teamwear kit and equipment requirements. We work with clubs up and down the UK providing them with a club web shop solution that enables the club to streamline their club ordering and ensure they can encourage a one-kit identity running throughout all teams in their club. We also work with thousands of teams across the country via our discountfootballkits website where they order kits and equipment in a more ad hoc manner.”

As a National Nike Retail Partner, what do you enjoy most about working with County FAs?

“Our main business focus is to offer excellent service and build longstanding relationships with grassroots clubs and the community as a whole. This aligns nicely with the work carried out by County. So being able to assist the grassroots volunteers with various offerings and platforms alongside our county FA partners is something we enjoy and take great pride in.”

What sets your brand apart from competitors in the market?

“Vesey is a business that is solely focused on Football, with grassroots football clubs being at the very centre of what we do. All our platforms and developments are made with grassroots volunteers at the forefront of our thought process. We want to ensure we are offering an excellent service where we look to under promise and over-deliver. But we are very much conscious that most grassroots football is operated by volunteers, so we want to ensure our platforms and interactions with them are easy and not time-consuming. 

"Also, we have many quality control checks throughout our production processes, so the business ensures to the best of our abilities that the customer is getting what they have ordered and in a lead time which has been recommended.”

You have a long-standing relationship supporting clubs and leagues within Kent. Can you tell us more about that?

“With Vesey being a national teamwear retailer we have partnerships all across the UK, but we have some fantastic long-term relationships with many clubs and leagues within Kent. These relationships are built on good communication and consistent service which gives them the local retailer feel but from a national online provider. We believe Kent is a strong part of the country for Vesey as clubs and leagues in this region have been keen to recommend us to other clubs and leagues local to them. Our team is always at the end of the phone or on email but when your customers are sharing their experiences and recommending you to others, I think this sends a strong message that Vesey is reliable and consistent in our service to grassroots football across the UK.”

What has been a partnership highlight working with the Kent FA so far?

“A business highlight whilst working with the Kent FA has been contributing and delivering first aid kits to every registered team in the county during 2021. We collaborated with Darryl the CEO of the county who advised the county was very keen to give back to the affiliated members of the county and after identifying what they felt offered the most value to clubs at that point in time. We were able to supply first aid kits with contents to every team in Kent.”
