Kent FA's First Ever Celebrating Diversity In Football Conference

Promoting, Recognising & Celebrating Diversity Within Kent Football’s Coaches & Workforce!

The Kent FA aims to provide fun, safe and inclusive opportunities for all in Kent’s grassroots football community, whether playing, officiating, supporting or coaching.

On Wednesday, 18th October, at Village Hotel Maidstone, Kent FA is delighted to be hosting the first ever Celebrating Diversity In Football Conference, which will be in association with Black History Month (BHM) for coaches and the football workforce across Kent.

The event will celebrate and promote an inclusive and diverse footballing community across the County by empowering and inspiring the present and next generation of diverse coaches and workforce. This will be further enhanced through an array of special guest panellists made up of:

  • Anwar Uddin MBE (Diversity & Inclusion Manager at The FA)
  • Troy Townsend (Head of Player Engagement at Kick It Out)
  • George Elokobi (Maidstone United FC Manager) and
  • Craig Fagan (Maidstone United FC Assistant Manager)

Who will discuss the current landscape of diversity in football in the professional game and explore how to tackle equality in your football community, hosted by TalkSport’s Kweku Afari.

Organisers of the event David Webb, Kent FA Participation & Workforce Lead and Harry Mark, Kent FA Inclusion Football Development Officer, said: “This event will present an opportunity to obtain insight from professional experts and pioneers in the industry who are creating inspirational opportunities and support to develop our game, ensuring that we can celebrate and recognise diversity in football both on and off the pitch."

“Diversifying our coaches and volunteer workforce in the County helps to create role models and inspire the future generation to understand that entry and progression into these pathways and industries are possible and that there are opportunities both on a County and national level to support make this happen.”
