Veolia join Kent FA's Kent Green United initiative

We have teamed up with Veolia as part of our campaign to keep Kent green through our Kent Green United programme.

In a forward-thinking move towards sustainability for Kent grassroots clubs, we are excited to announce a new partnership with Veolia, the UK’s leader in resource management.

We at the Kent FA are profoundly aware of our duty to support the playing environments of our Kent grassroots clubs and communities. With over 64,000 players enjoying the grassroots game in Kent, within over 700 clubs, together with volunteers, we have a big part to play in changing the way we do things for the good of our planet and using our voices to make a positive change. Veolia has come on board to support Kent FA's green initiative, Kent Green United, to promote environmentally friendly practices within the Kent football community.

Kent Green United is a collection of environmentally conscious, grassroots clubs that carry out simple, fun, and regular activities within their communities to make a positive difference in their local environment. We have seen club and community litter picks, club boot and kit swap shops, stakeholders walking to training or matches to reduce carbon emissions, and clubs switching from single-use plastic cups to reusable takeaway cups. These simple activities will make all the difference to our environment and it is wonderful to have Veolia on this journey with us.

Kent FA's Head of Marketing and Partnerships, Claire Whybrew, said: "Football has a tremendous platform to inspire change and raise awareness about pressing environmental challenges. Through our partnership with Veolia, we hope to harness the power of football to drive meaningful progress towards a more sustainable future. To have Veolia support this initiative is incredible. We look forward to growing this programme with Veolia as our partner".

David Fitzgerald, Veolia’s General Manager for Municipal South East expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to drive positive change within the Kent community. "We’re proud to be supporting the Kent FA’s Green United league through our Sustainability Fund," he said.

"We’ve supported a number of impactful projects over the years that have empowered communities to make positive changes to the environment but this partnership will enable us to bring many more community groups on our journey towards ecological transformation through its wide reaching network across Kent."

Kent Green United, supported by Veolia, provides a positive commitment to the county, local environment, and climate change, helping to create a great playing environment for our grassroots clubs and their communities for now and in the future.
