Kent Green United Impact Statement

Check out our Kent football community's green activity for August- December 2023.

At the Kent FA, we know the impact that football can have on the environments of our Kent clubs and the communities.

That's why we launched our green initiative, 'Kent Green United,' at the start of this season, where several of our Kent clubs united to support our mission to keep Kent Green.

We have already seen some incredible work from our green clubs across the County and cannot wait to share them with you.

Litter picking

litter picking

One of the biggest problems around pitches and facilities is littering. However, our Kent Green United eco-warriors have been busily litter-picking to ensure their facilities are litter-free—well done, Barming Youth FC, Saints FC, Staplehurst Monarchs Youth, and Maidstone United Raiders.

Boot/Kit Swaps

boot swap

Several clubs have run 'Boot Swaps' where players can donate boots they have outgrown, which are recycled to a player who fits them perfectly. Kit donations have also been a popular initiative with our clubs, helping to reduce landfill across Kent. Great work Cranbrook Juniors, Barming Youth FC, Deal Town Rangers, Rising Stars Youth FC, Staplehurst Monarchs Youth, and Tonbridge Angels.

Reusable Cups/Bottles

reusable cup

An increasing number of our teams are actively encouraging members to use reusable cups and bottles to reduce single-use materials whilst also giving the clubs good brand exposure with branded reusable items. Our print partner, Darenth Print & Design, has a great offer to help introduce branded reusable cups to club shops on match days. Great work Barming Youth, Cranbrook Juniors FC, Rising Stars Youth FC and Staplehurst Monarchs Youth.

Cycle/Walk Events

cycle

A green initiative that can make a huge difference is a walk and cycle to training/matches event to help reduce carbon emissions. Congratulations to Kings Hill FC and Fox FC, who have arranged walking/cycling events and encouraged all members to take the eco-friendly approach to travel on a matchday.

LED Lights

Clubs have made the simple switch to energy-efficient LED lights, taking their facilities to the next level. From switching the lightbulbs in the clubhouse to upgrading the floodlights to LED, our green teams are making the most of this sustainable change.

We want to thank all our active Green Teams who have taken time out of their busy schedules to support Kent Green United. We are so proud of the impact that has already been made, and working with our green clubs, we can continue to help protect our local environments, unite communities, and positively impact our planet.
