First ever Kent Walking Football Cup Tournament Day a Success!

Sunday saw the inaugural Kent FA Walking Football County Cup take place as Teams from all over the County met at Play Football in Rainham to compete in the Over 50’s & Over 60’s Tournaments.

There were seven Teams in the Over 50’s and four Teams in the Over 60’s.

Dartford, Maidstone United, Ebbsfleet White & Medway Marauders were in Group A whilst Bexley, Ebbsfleet Reds & Shepway Wanderers made up Group B in the Over 50’s with Margate, Bexley, Medway Marauders & Ashford Internationale competing in the Over 60’s.

Maidstone United topped their Group with a 100% record from their three matches conceding just two goals and scoring twelve to secure a Semi Final place, they were joined in the Semi Finals by Medway Marauders who finished as runners up edging out Ebbsfleet White on goal difference. In Group B, Bexley finished as winners as they recorded four wins from their five group matches, Ebbsfleet Reds made the last four as they won three matches to finish with 10 points.  The Semi Finals saw Maidstone United take on Ebbsfleet Reds with Bexley taking on Medway Marauders in the other match. In the Over 60’s Cup Bexley dominated the Group stages winning all three matches scoring a tremendous twenty goals without conceding a single goal, Margate Old Gaters finished in second place on six points with Ashford Internationale coming third and Medway Marauders finishing fourth. This set up the Semi Finals as Bexley up against Medway and Margate facing Ashford. Bexley continued their great form with a 4-0 win to book their place in the Final, the other Semi Final was a thriller as Margate and Ashford drew 3-3 and still couldn’t be separated after extra time and so it was down to penalties which went to sudden death before Margate secured their place in the Final. Bexley’s dominance continued in the Final as they ran out comfortable 7-0 winners to get their hands on the Cup.
