Match Preview: Kent Reliance U18 Boys Youth Cup Final 2017

This Sunday, at Salters Lane, Bridon Ropes FC take on Ramsgate FC for the Kent Reliance U18 Boys Youth Cup! Kicking off at 10.30am, it is set to be a

Bridon Ropes FC had the luck of the draw on their side in the first round, receiving a bye and going straight through to the second round of the competition.

Ramsgate FC however, had a visit to Cranbrook Town Juniors FC, where they progressed through to the second round of the competition, with a smashing 10-0 win!

For the start of their journey to the final, Bridon Ropes went up against Lordswood FC in the second round of the competition, where thanks to a James Elms screamer, Bridon went on to win the tie 2-1 and progress to the third round.

Similarly, Ramsgate FC went through to the third round of the competition thanks to a 2-1 win against Fleetdown FC.

Bridon Ropes were up against Folkestone Invicta in the 3rd round of the competition, and with the team’s manager admitting they played their best football of the season in the first hour of that game, going 3-0 up thanks to a goal from James Elms and a brace from Tyler Anderson-Parr. However, Folkestone made the comeback and the final result was 3-2 to Bridon who went through to the Quarter-Final!

Ramsgate went up to Bearsted FC for the 3rd round match, and they returned back to the coast 1-0 winners and through to the Quarter-Final!

In their Quarter-Final against West Wickham FC, Bridon found themselves 2-0 down in 12 minutes! But the second half gave them the opportunity to rally and after 2 high-pressure penalties from Harry King and third header from Clinton gave them the win!

It was an East Kent derby for Ramsgate in their Quarter-Final, when they went up against Faversham Town FC! Ramsgate were 3-1 winners though, describing it as a good win against a very good, well coached team and the side’s best performance this season!

Bridon Ropes went up against Bromley FC in their Semi-Final. After a hard fought contest, and initially going 1-0 down, Harry King netted a penalty for Bridon bringing them equal, before the team’s Captain Bayley Malone-Adams headed home with 7 minutes left on the clock, putting them into the final 2-1 winners!

Ramsgate’s Semi-Final got off to a tough start after the team were 2-0 down at half time against Sporting Club Thamesmead FC. However, the second half was a complete turnaround in tempo, with a strong performance, and the team’s desire to reach the final clear as they netted 4 goals and on the whistle were 4-2 winners!
